TikTok's new filter "Bold Glamour" has taken the platform by storm in recent weeks. Instead, she pulled out her phone to show me "Bold Glamour." Bold Glamour has appeared in millions of videos on TikTok because of how seamlessly it melds into certain users' faces. And on users with conventional, Eurocentric features, Bold Glamour looks like a wash of well-applied makeup. The argument that a filter like Bold Glamour can subtly distort a users' sense of reality, beauty, and very self is certainly valid.

Katie Couric said Wednesday she was diagnosed with breast cancer over the summer and had finished radiation treatment this week. Katie Couric, a former co-anchor of NBC's "TODAY" show, announced Wednesday that she has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Couric, 65, began her most recent Instagram post by sharing a startling statistic — every two minutes, a woman is diagnosed with the disease in the United States. In an essay on her Katie Couric Media website, she revealed that she learned about her diagnosis on her eighth wedding anniversary to John Molner. After coming up with a plan with her doctor, Couric underwent surgery July 14 and began radiation Sept. 7. She said she wanted to share her journey to encourage other women to keep up with their exams.
CNN —It was a first for actor Ryan Reynolds, who allowed a video crew to capture his colonoscopy screening on camera to raise awareness of the increase in colon cancer diagnoses among people under 50. The new video, made in partnership with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and another colon cancer awareness organization, Lead From Behind, did not show the colonoscopy procedure itself, for either Reynolds or McElhenney. “I have a pretty little colon,” Couric said with a sleepy chuckle as she watched the video projection from the scope inside her colon. “You didn’t put the scope in yet, did you?” asked Couric, whose husband had died from colon cancer at age 42 in 1998. However, like Reynolds and McElhenney, most people are more heavily sedated and rarely wake up during a colonoscopy.
